2004 Quilt Show Results - Miniature Size Quilts | |||
|
Miniatures quilts are extremely compact being a maximum of 18"x18". This creates some unique challenges to the quilter: getting the balance of colour, content and interest without making it look too cluttered. Our 2004 winners certainly achieved that!. |

1st: "Baby Sunset" by Hannah Byron "I love the combination of purple with yellow and orange, and one of those few places it occurs naturally is in sunsets. This is reflected in the blocks and the quilting, done by hand with embroidery thread which helps the colours blend together." Original design based on the traditional which has been hand and machine pieced and hand quilted. Beautifully coloured and well made, this eye catching design was a real winner. |

3rd: "Amish Star" by Pam Thompson "One of the first pieces I made. The class project of a 'sampler' course, it has all the elements that made up a quilt: pieced centre, sashing strips and posts, borders and binding and, of course, quilting. It was finished during the classes but the large quilt took three years!" Hand pieced and quilted to a traditional design. |
