2006 Quilt Show Results - Wall Size Quilts
The judge had a particularly difficult time choosing a 1-2-3 for this category given such a high standard of entries. We are pleased to see that the ultimate winner started life at one of the TSQ's workshops really showing what you can achieve with a little coaching - we think you would agree that the dyeing is absolutely stunning!
1st: "Dyeing to Quilt" by Isabel Hall
"This wallhanging is made from fabric dyed at a workshop with 'Committed to Cloth'. The original freehand quilting is done in a frame style with Victorian feathers surrounding a machine trapunto centre."
Original design, longarm quilted.

2nd: "Rosebud" by Paula Doyle
I was looking through an old cross-stitch pattern book and came across this simple rosebud pattern which was even easier to do as a quilt block pattern using my trusty rotary cutter. Just goes to show you can find inspiration sometimes in unexpected places!
Machine pieced and quilted to an original design.
3rd: "Leaf" by Rosemary Budd
Made using an Anja Townrow pattern.The lovely lime greens remind me of all the favourite things in my garden - variegated holly, acacia and acer. I can't resist nipping and snipping my trees and I guess it was the same with this quilt. Great fun - and I won't have to sweep this one up when Autumn comes!
