2007 Quilt Show Results - Special Categories
Some of these quilts are selected independently of the category entered and represent the "best of the best". They include the prestigious "Best in Show", the popular "Visitor's Choice" and the exclusive Judge's Choice. Also included are the winners of some of our other special categories e.g. Challenge Quilt, Artefact, Friendship Quilt and Previous Winner.
Best in Show: "Tecla'S Woven Fan" by Paula Doyle
I made this quilt for my niece Tecla, who lives in New York and is a fan of all things Japanese.
Machine Pieced, Machine Appliqued, Machine Quilted, Original Design based on Traditional.
Visitor's Choice: "Martha's Calender Sue" by Jenni Crevald
"Made by special request -–took a lot longer than expected but is loved by Martha aged 4. Each block depicts a Month of the Year."
Machine Pieced, Hand & Machine Appliqued, Embellished.

Judge's Choice:
"Winter Scene" by Sheila Roberton
"Paula & Pam showed us their quilted wall hanging 'Fabric Scrapscapes' so I thought I'd try! The snipping of fabric and fussy cutting was a bit boring (best done whilst chatting to a friend) but the putting together was fun. I experimented with quilting stitches and fraying fabric."

Best Friendship Quilt:
"Big Triange Spiral" by Paula Doyle & Isabel Hall
"This colourful quilt was inspired by the colours of a Chilean wall hanging which was obtained by my father when he worked there as a missionary teacher. I love the way the dark / light contrast works to form a pattern, while the yellow squares emphasize the simplicity of the block choice. The design is complimented beautifully by the long arm quilting which was done by Isabel Hall (Compton Quilting services)."
