Thameside Quilters

We are a very active quilt group of approximately seventy five quilters who meet once a month between Feb and Nov in Staines Methodist Church located in the heart of Staines (south-west London). We are a really mixed group of all ages, skills, talents and experience. Members are extremely friendly and supportive and also enjoy a good chat too! New members are always welcome, why not come down and see for yourself? See Club Information for more information.

Quilts4London

Our group managed to contribute 72 banners to the Quilts4London Project. This is a project which aims to present a banner as a gift to every athlete that takes part in the Olympic & Paralympic Games being held in London in 2012. See our special web page 2011BannerGallery for photos of the lovely banners creeated by our members.

Philippa Naylor

It is with great pleasure that we announce a very special visitor to Thameside Quilters. On Monday 20th February 2012 we will have the renowned Quilter Philippa Naylor visiting us. Even more exciting is that we will be one of the first groups to hear Philippa's new talk. See Phillipa's website for a taste of her work.

Please see the flyer below or our Diary of Events page for more information on how to buy tickets for this wonderful opportunity.

Throughout the year we have a variety of different days and evenings which include quilting demonstrations, special guest speakers, Chinese auctions, workshops and quizzes amongst a comprehensive list of quilting and patchwork related activities.

November 2004: a workshop with Pat Deacon

We try to make it as interesting and diverse as possible to meet a vast range of personal interests. Why not come along on a Monday evening and find out for yourself?  Or get in contact with us via email to find out more?

September 2003: a workshop with Dawn Cameron Dick

As well as having much fun at our monthly meetings with our speakers, show & tell sessions and experience sharing, the group also aims to raise money for our local charity which is chosen by our members each year.

In 2008-2009 we decided to split our fundraising 50/50 between two charties: Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge and Cameo day centres in Shepperton. The Sam Beare Hospice provides care and support to the residents of North Surrey. The Cameo day centres offers respite to carers looking after a confused person.

Our charity for 2007-2008 was the Spelthorne Crossroads Care. It aims to provide practical and emotional support to people who are caring for a disabled or ill person of any age. We are able to donate a lovely cheque for £1500 to them. We also donated £200 to the Swan Sanctuary.

In 2006-2007 our chosen charity was The Penrose Club in Ashford. This is a social club for adults with special needs which is mainly run by volunteers.

Our charity for 2005-2006 was The Mulberry Centre, the cancer support and information centre at the West Middlesex Hospital.
