The Annual Quilt Show is the culmination of our year's endeavours before we break for the summer holidays.

Unfortunately, due to the current economic climate, plus venue uncertainty and the costs involved the group has decided not to have a quilt show in 2010.

The show is extremely popular both with quilters and the general public alike. There are a variety of categories of quilts displayed. See below for an idea of the type of quilts that will be displayed.

Categories

The categories for 2009 entries are:

Bed sized quilts over 60” x 60”.

Wall sized quilts to 59” x 59”.

Miniature quilts to 18” x 18”.

Artefacts: cushions, wearables, boxes etc.

Under 18s: for Quilters under the age of 18.

TSQ Challenge: "Credit Crunch" (max size 24" x 24").

Friendship quilts (for bed sized quilts only).

This year we have decided not to judge our quilt display - hopefully this will encourage all our members to show their hidden treasures. An exception to this applies to the "Under 18s" and "Challenge" categories which will have prizes awarded. Also an exception is the "Visitor's Choice" selection where all visitors to the show are able to select the quilt they love the best - usually a difficult choice for everyone as there is so many we would love to take home with us.

Quilt Show Entry Forms

Entry forms and quilts should be submitted to by our May meeting at the latest however the sooner the better is the rule of thumb!. More than one entry is allowed and welcomed. Note that this year there will be no charge for entering your beautiful quilts!

The Challenge

Each year we have a special challenge: For 2009 the category is "Credit Crunch" in light of the current difficult economic times we are facing. A 6" square of red fabric that must be used in your quilt is available from committee members. We are hoping that by giving you a little bit of red you will be able to keep out of it! Maximum size for the challenge quilt is 24" * 24".

Quilt Show Notice

This year we would like to invite members to make some notices for the quilt show. We would like to have some "Do Not Touch" mini-quilts. They should be approximately 8" x 11" and alternative languages, plus embellishments are encouraged. Those collected by our March meeting will be judged and the most original / amusing will receive a small prize. You can still donate after this date - but you will have missed the prize boat.

If you have any good ideas on how to make the show even better, we would love to hear about them. Please have a chat with any member of the committee or send us an email.

Sales Table:

Remember all those fun demo nights we’ve had – why don’t you pull out some of the patterns and create something for the sales table. Every little bit helps.

Helpers

Can you spare a little time during the quilt show?  Why not arrange to help out for an hour or so when you are visiting the show. A variety of duties are available, so if you need to sit down on the job I’m sure we can accommodate you.  A sign up sheet is available at all our meetings.
