MAY 2017

Good Evening, Members

Welcome to the May meeting of Thameside Quilters.

Tonight we welcome Penny Hackney from the Matthew Hackney Foundation who will receive their cheque from monies raised during 2016. The other cheques have been hand delivered to Baby Basics and the Charley Paige Trust by Shirley. The charity for 2017 is Baby Basics which was voted on at the AGM.

We also welcome Izi from Creative Quilting who has brought her sales table so if you need to purchase fabric for next month’s Project Linus Eye Spy Quilt making evening, I’m sure you will be able to find something suitable.

Tonight we launch the group challenge 2017 Mystery Block Challenge, so please make sure you sign up with Judy or Alison. Choose between "House and Garden" and "Tea on the Lawn".

The new Thameside Quilters website is now live. This website has been a long learning curve for Judy and Alison and with the help of their friend Jo they have all managed to bring us this exciting website. There are still lots to add but what they have achieved so far is fantastic. Easy to navigate and belongs in the 21st century. We would like to thank Judy, Alison and Jo for all the time they have given up to bring the group’s website up-to-date. If you have any suggestions for the website please email Judy.

Mandy Shaw – Sewing Quarter on 6 May 2017

If you missed Mandy Shaw’s programme on the Sewing Quarter (Freeview 78 every morning 8am -12noon) then I advise you to watch this via You Tube. Type in Mandy Shaw Sewing Quarter and find the 6th May episode. She is on the third hour where she demonstrates how to make FLYING GEESE using a completely different method. This method is very quick and gives a completely different result. As everyone is aware Mandy does quirky sewing and is very fast not traditional.

Have a great evening

The Committee
