Good Evening, Members,
Welcome to the September meeting of Thameside Quilters.
Tonight we welcome Paula Doyle who is a full time quilter and she enjoys all aspects of quilt making, from hand piecing to machine quilting to the history of quilt making. She teaches quilting classes and she especially makes quilts and quilt patterns in her Green Mountain Quilt Studio. Paula is the author of Mini Mosaic Quilts, which is all about making small scale quilts and blocks with a fantastic easy piecing technique. Tonight we have the privilege to discuss her upcoming book Easy Stack Quilts (to be released in May 2018). Paula is also holding a workshop on Saturday 16 September for this method and we have three places available so please ensure you have signed up and have the requirement sheets.
Tonight we will also be discussing the venue for 2018 whether to stay at Staines Methodist Church or move to the Greeno Centre in Shepperton. We will be discussing the pros and cons of moving so please ensure that you vote on the attached sheet.
Compton Quilting will be holding their open day on 21 October 10-4 any quilt tops booked in on the day, for edge to edge quilting , will have free wadding. Guest traders are Izzy from Creative Quilting and Gail Penberthy with her patterns and some demos.
We'll also be giving a few hints about the classes for New Year, and as usual there will be cakes and scones in the kitchen to raise money for Water Aid.
The October meeting is Christmas Demo night so please bring your hand sewing kit and note books. We will be having demonstrations on Santa Cones, Folded cards, Christmas Robin, Somerset Patchwork.
