Good evening members,
Welcome to the April meeting of Thameside Quilters.
We will begin with the official formalities of the AGM voting on new and present committee members for 2019-20. At the AGM tonight we nominate and confirm the Thameside Quilters Committee. We have three vacancies for the 2019 committee.
We would like to thank Pat, Barbara and Christine for their hard work during 2018. We would also like to thank Judy for letting the committee hold the meetings at her house and Cynthia for providing the refreshments for each meeting.
We would like to welcome Guest Speaker Gemma Murray who is employed at the prestigious Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court. Gemma has worked on some famous commissions and is going to tell us all about her journey “Embroidery and Me”
The committee has also secured the Coach trip to Malvern on Saturday 18 May. £30 per person which includes the ticket cost. Pick up point 8am from the Three Fishes in Sunbury. Departing Malvern at 4pm.
We have also been informed that Jacquie Cranfield, our Project Linus co-coordinator, is retiring from her post at the end of 2019.. We wish her well in her new venture.
Last month Ellie showed us some quick makes she had researched for our stand at the Shepperton Village Fair in June. Could all members take at least one project to make and donate 10p for the photocopying. We already have been given mug rugs from our new members but we need some more items.
Have a great evening.

Evelina - London Children Hospital Sponsored Abseil
Thameside Quilters donate quilts to the Evelina Childrens Hospital. This charity was chosen by the group after Collette’s granddaughter Eva had heart surgery. Gemma Murray our speaker tonight is her mum.
The family are now doing a sponsored Abseil on 10 May down the side of St Thomas Hospital to raise more funds. If you would like to donate to this cause the link is below; justgiving.com/fundraising/gemmamurray
The Robertons’ Stall
Hi Fellow Quilters –
You know that lovely piece of work you didn’t quite finish? – Why not let someone else love it! We sell all sorts of UFO’s, orphan blocks and little quilty bits and pieces which our members have donated and the results can be very eye-catching. We have been given 2 pieces of beautiful brown worsted (by Hunroyd) – each 60” wide and 3 yards, in addition to a piece of dark navy wool mix, similar size; and 5 yards of glorious black velvet. The other generous donation is 10 block-of-the-month kits by Whims – Cats on a watercolour background. Each kit is complete with all the fabrics to make it up. Do we sell all 10 together? Or individually?.. We have the usual fat quarter boxes so plan to reward yourself after the AGM has finished!
Cheers, Sheila & Kate
