Thameside Quilters

We are a very active quilt group of approximately seventy five quilters who meet once a month between Sept and June in Magna Carta School located in Staines (south-west London). We are a really mixed group of all ages, skills, talents and experience. Members are extremely friendly and supportive and also enjoy a good chat too! New members are always welcome, why not come down and see for yourself? See Club Information for more information.

Our eleventh annual exhibition of Patchwork and Quilting was held on the 27th and 28th of June 2009 at St. David's Girl's School in Ashford. We hope you enjoyed our exhibition. See 2009 Annual Show for results and pictures from this years show.

2009 Raffle Quilt

The main prize for our annual raffle every year is a beautiful quilt, designed and made by our members. The photo to the left shows the gorgeous quilt for this year. This year the quilt was won by Rosemary Budd. Our second prize, a workshop for 12 with Paula Doyle was won by Mr Bob Calder. Third prize, M&S Vouchers was won by M. Semmens. Fourth prize, pack of hand made greetings cards was won by Helen Budd.

All proceeds from the Raffle Quilt, Quilt Show plus our general fundraising throughout the year are donated to our chosen local charity for the year, voted for by our members. For 2009-2010 we chose the Linden Bennett School which provides wonderful facilities to handicapped children

From our fund raising during 2008-2009, we are able to donate a cheque for £750 each to Cameo and the Sam Beare Hospice. Well done everyone. Here's hoping that this year is equally successful.

Throughout the year we have a variety of different days and evenings which include quilting demonstrations, special guest speakers, Chinese auctions, workshops and quizzes amongst a comprehensive list of quilting and patchwork related activities.

November 2004: a workshop with Pat Deacon

We try to make it as interesting and diverse as possible to meet a vast range of personal interests. Why not come along on a Monday evening and find out for yourself?  Or get in contact with us via email to find out more?

September 2003: a workshop with Dawn Cameron Dick

As well as having much fun at our monthly meetings with our speakers, show & tell sessions and experience sharing, the group also aims to raise money for our local charity which is chosen by our members each year.

In 2008-2009 we decided to split our fundraising 50/50 between two charties: Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge and Cameo day centres in Shepperton. The Sam Beare Hospice provides care and support to the residents of North Surrey. The Cameo day centres offers respite to carers looking after a confused person.

Our charity for 2007-2008 was the Spelthorne Crossroads Care. It aims to provide practical and emotional support to people who are caring for a disabled or ill person of any age. We are able to donate a lovely cheque for £1500 to them. We also donated £200 to the Swan Sanctuary.

In 2006-2007 our chosen charity was The Penrose Club in Ashford. This is a social club for adults with special needs which is mainly run by volunteers.

Our charity for 2005-2006 was The Mulberry Centre, the cancer support and information centre at the West Middlesex Hospital.
